In the polished section, you can see a unique longitudinal cross-section of a rough (rugose) coral (lower middle), which grows into three individuals at its upper end. This coral is also crossed by a white calcite vein. In the limestone, you can easily observe other cross-sections of rough corals, which are highly preserved and contrast in the surrounding calcareous mass. In the right part there are cross-sections of the movements of serpulid worms. Rough corals are organisms that inhabited the shallow, warm, well-oxygenated, sunlit seas of the Middle Devonian, about 384 million years before the present.
