Labradorite

Labradorite is a mineral known for its brilliant optical effect called labradorescence, which creates beautiful flashes of blue, green, yellow and even orange and pink, a very rare deep red color. This effect is caused by thin layers in the crystal structure of the stone that reflect and scatter light. Labradorite belongs to the feldspar group and was named after the Labrador Peninsula in Canada where it was first discovered. Labradorite deposits can be found in China, Canada, Finland, Russia, but the most famous deposit is Madagascar.
