A perfect example of a double polished malachite stalagmite from Shaba Province, Zaire in Africa. Due to the weathering of copper ores and the seepage of water saturated with copper and carbonates, these impressive stalactite formations grow in the underlying cavities. Thanks to the cross-section and polishing from both sides, the growth process and the fusion of individual stalactites into one can be observed. In malachite, different shades of deep green color alternate zonally.
