Museum example of a section of polished limestone with a colony of tabulate coral of the genus Alveolites. In the limestone, in the middle of both sides (left and right), the unique typical shape of these plate corals can be observed. This highly preserved and very detailed coral contrasts with the white gray color in the surrounding black limestone mass. Among other things, there are mosses and rough corals in the limestone. Tabular corals are organisms that inhabited calm, shallow, warm, well-oxygenated and sunlit seas in the Middle Devonian, about 384 million years before the present. Lazanecki limestone.
